Diagnose Your Website and Vaccinate Against HackersPCIS launches WSA Diagnostic to help companies with web securityVANCOUVER – November 20, 2009 – As public concerns about H1N1 rises, it's important for business owners to remember that flu season for websites is year round. Vancouver IT consulting firm PCIS launches WSA Diagnostic today, to help ensure the health of organizations' web assets as hackers continue to infect Internet sites by the millions. WSA Diagnostic adds to PCIS' existing Devfense security suite of services, which help organizations ensure web and network security through investigation and analysis, followed by planned security improvements. "WSA Diagnostic gives owners and administrators a snapshot of their web application's structure, with supplemental information on the site's operation, security posture and strategy for fixing vulnerabilities," says PCIS President Vaclav Vincalek. "It will help organizations ensure that their own assets and the private customer data they hold is protected. For just $195, companies can get started on building better security for themselves and everyone who visits their website." What sort of organizations might need a WSA diagnostic? "Web applications or web services sometimes don't undergo frequent penetration testing or review," Vincalek notes. "Sometimes, these web assets are updated or upgraded. Other times, applications are inherited from other departments during corporate restructuring. We also find that with new applications provided by a third party or those that need to undergo testing before going live, there can be security issues. All of these cases would be good candidates for getting a diagnosis against cyber threats." The WSA Diagnostic report can be used as an information tool by IT and web application developers. It also serves the core evaluation data by our web security consultants during a comprehensive WSA analysis where potentially a library of hundreds of thousands of security tests are performed. Getting started is simple. After discussing the application that will be investigated with one of PCIS' representatives, their security specialists will require the URL of the web application (if externally accessible), any login credentials, to ensure full traversal and, if necessary, the ability to exclude the IP address of PCIS' analysis tools from the client's analytics. "A lot of business owners are concerned today about the loss of productivity and operational continuity when their employees get sick," Vincalek says. "But the health of an organization's web assets is also critical for maintaining operations. We've seen what happens to organizations whose web assets get hacked, and they lose days, sometimes weeks, of productivity, every time it happens. We hope that more companies will take advantage of the tools available to protect themselves and their stakeholders. About PCIS – www.pcis.com About Boonbox – www.boonbox.net |
